Position Summary: The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is an experienced fundraiser who develops and manages the council’s strategies, campaigns, and activities by conducting research, prospecting, developing proposals and narratives, building relationships, and raising funds from corporations and foundations. Primary Responsibilities: Supports the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to increase financial champions of the council. Performs ongoing research and works with the council team to identify corporations and foundations whose guidelines make them likely sources for support of GSNNJ’s programs and services or other priorities as identified by the leadership team. Identifies top corporate and foundation prospects. Creates, updates and manages year-round cultivation calendar as well as portfolio of 100 major corporate and foundation prospects with capacity to give $10,000 or more. Assists the CDO in developing and implementing strategies for corporate and foundation prospects and donors with greater capacity who will interact directly with the CEO, COO, CPO, CDO, as well as other administrative and volunteer leadership. Acts in the capacity of grants writer meeting all submission and reporting deadlines and requirements. Manages the tracking of grant funding including the spend down of the funds, report summaries to the grant funders, and importantly the management of the spend-down with the internal GSNNJ team. Secures corporate sponsorship for special events, including Women of Achievement and the Invest in Girls Breakfast and other large-scale programs, events and financial assistance. Schedules and runs monthly grant funded program meetings to ensure grant compliance with program and finance departments. Prepares reports for presentation in meetings Maintains and updates corporate and foundation tracking in fund development database. Represents GSNNJ at area chambers of commerce, professional associations and other public forums when necessary. Performs other duties as required Staff members are accountable for achieving their performance goals that collectively enable GSNNJ to reach our council goals. Each staff member is expected to take an active role in all areas of operations, especially by being alert to opportunities to identify and engage potential volunteers, girl members, donors, vendors, collaborators, etc. and providing contact information to the appropriate staff person. Each employee is a representative of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. Others form their impressions of GSNNJ based, in part, on their interaction with employees. Every personal contact made by a GSNNJ employee could be a current or potential donor; thus, these impressions can influence donor actions. Each employee is expected to take an active role in development by being alert to opportunities to identify potential new donors and providing contact information to the Chief Development Officer. On occasion, employees may be asked to participate in site visits and/or follow-up calls with contacts.
Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in related field with at least five years of experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent research skills Basic understanding of 990s and audited financial statements Exceptional time management capability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment and annually thereafter. Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile and auto insurance. Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction to attend meetings during the day/evening/weekend.
